I need to get the negativity out of my mind. I have seen a lot of it lately, and it is not good to dwell on it. Shortly after we moved here we were talking to one of Beverly's sisters and she wanted to take us to Portland. We said that we would consider it and she figured that it meant 'yes'. Well, we decided we wanted to do it ourselves and she said that she was going to tell us she couldn't take us anyway, and then proceeded to blow up at us over not wanting her help. She stated that she was under the impression (from Beverly's mother, mainly -- her words) that we were on our last dime after leaving New York. It really bothered her to see that we still had some money coming in and were not on our "last dime."
(Solution: we no longer will communicate via text message - and she has been removed.)
She states that we should consider having more children (she doesn't want us having just one) and that we "need" to get back on Facebook since we are having a baby. I hate to break it to her, but we don't want her life. She also said that we should not move away, and that we are "back where we belong" -- whatever that means. We have our own goals and wants out of life. We are not going to live another version of her life.
Another one of Beverly's sisters were wondering if we would be staying in Spokane. She said that it was cheaper here than in Seattle as far as apartments. That may be the case, but one is also more compelled to own a car here, unlike Seattle, where public transit is easy and places are within close walking distance. Removing the car from the equation actually makes Seattle just as cheap as Spokane.
I moved from New York to get away from the cold winters and the hot summers, not to leave the city. I also wanted to return to the west coast -- key word being "coast." Many people assume that I did not like New York. That is not true. I did like New York a lot. However, there were things that I missed about this side of the country and I made the choice to return here based on that. If an opportunity arose in New York I would go back.
